Everton: Premier League blasted by former Goodison employee amid latest appeal update
Bryan King has criticised the Premier League for a lack of clarity following the decision of Everton to appeal their most recent points deduction.
The ex-Everton scout feels that the Toffees need to show more fight on the pitch following confirmation on Monday (15 April) via the Premier League that the Blues would be appealing the two-point deduction handed to them for a second breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (via BBC Sport, 8 April).
In the Premier League’s statement, it was revealed that they “will be seeking to have the appeal resolved urgently with the outcome confirmed in advance of Sunday 19 May, the last day of this season.”
However, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that the outcome of the appeal will make no difference if Sean Dyche’s side doesn’t turn things around.
“Regardless of the outcome of this appeal, Everton need to start winning games,” King said
“If they are given those two points back, or even just one, it will make a difference but if they want to be assured, they need to pick up points on the pitch. At the moment they aren’t doing that, and that is a problem.
“The outcome of the appeal won’t mean anything if they continue in this way.
“Having said that, it is difficult to find that motivation on the pitch because there doesn’t seem to be any clarity from the Premier League with these point deductions.”
Everton living dangerously as they await the outcome of their appeal at Goodison Park
Most Everton supporters will be hoping that their Premier League status isn’t determined in a boardroom by a group of lawyers and officials.
They currently sit two points above the drop zone and have their fate well within their control.

With home games against Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Brentford between now and the end of the season still to come, the Toffees have every chance to pick up enough points and resolve their future on the pitch.
