Sean Dyche slammed after what he said in Everton press conferences as major concerns emerge

Michael Ball has slammed Everton boss Sean Dyche for what he keeps saying in his press conferences, branding the manager’s comments “really concerning”.

The Toffees were beaten 6-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last time out, with Cole Palmer scoring four times alongside goals from Nicolas Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist.

Dyche has frequently pointed to his experience and the experience of his coaching staff in turbulent times as a means of invoking trust in his process.

Ball, however, feels that Dyche must change something in order to improve results, writing for the Liverpool Echo: “What we’re seeing and the manager is seeing are two different things. Sean Dyche likes to say how he’s been in management for 500 games and, with his coaching staff, they’ve got over a thousand games between them – but if they can’t see what the majority of Evertonians can see, that’s really concerning.

“He says the last time we capitulated like that [the 6-0 defeat against Chelsea] was at Aston Villa, but I disagree. It’s been a long time since I saw Everton put in a top performance. Apart from Tottenham away – which we lost – we haven’t dominated or dictated a football game and that’s why he’s got the worst Premier League run in our history.”

Sean Dyche must win Everton fans over after poor results

Dyche built a strong reputation in his time as Burnley boss – but the Toffees’ results have been undeniably poor and the manager must take some responsibility for that.

Everton have registered two wins in their last 16 Premier League games – a run which included an unwanted club-record 13 consecutive matches without victory in the competition – and both were against Burnley, who sit second from bottom and look all but certain to be relegated.

Irrespective of the fact that the Toffees would be 14th on 35 points – 10 points clear of the drop zone – if not for points deductions, the manner in which the team’s form has dropped off a cliff since the turn of the year is alarming, to say the least.

A lack of proactivity in dropping underperforming stars has also been a criticism levelled at Dyche.

If the 52-year-old is to convince fans that he is indeed the man to take the club forward, he will need to change something – and soon.
