Everton: Sean Dyche shares injury update on Beto after what happened v Nottingham Forest

Everton manager Sean Dyche gave an update on Portuguese striker Beto after full-time against Nottingham Forest, after he was forced off with a head injury late in the game.

Beto and Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White were both left down on the deck after a nasty head clash in injury time, and after a delay of eight minutes, the Everton striker was safely removed from the field.

After the full-time whistle confirmed a 2-0 win and a massive three points for the Toffees, Dyche gave some good news on his striker’s condition to the Liverpool Echo, saying: “It is pleasing at this moment.”

“I can’t say more than that at this stage other than that he definitely came around and that he understood what was going on, which they assured me is a good early sign after a real serious knock.

“It was fantastic how quickly the medical team reacted, on all parts, to make sure that he was safe, and we now hope for news over the next 24 to 48 hours.”

Everton edge closer to Premier League survival with Forest victory

Everton were already 1-0 up against Nottingham Forest as Beto replaced starting striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and he hadn’t even been on the pitch for 10 minutes when Abdoulaye Doucoure set up Dwight McNeil to curl home a second goal and wrap up the points with 14 minutes left.

Beto, who has scored three Premier League goals in his debut season at Goodison Park, had been tussling with Calvert-Lewin for the number nine role, but it might be that he now requires a spell on the sidelines.

With rare goals coming from further back thanks to McNeil, and Idrissa Gueye in the first half, the Toffees moved five points clear of the relegation zone with their second win in three games, with the caveat that Sean Dyche’s side still only have two wins from their last 16 attempts.

Next up is a Merseyside derby against title-chasing Liverpool, and if Beto’s team-mates can inspire Everton to victory without him, taking them further away from the bottom three in the process, the Portuguese striker will return to the fold as part of a side teeming with confidence.
