Simon Jordan slams Liverpool in Merseyside derby verdict as Everton focus may be elsewhere
Simon Jordan has slammed Liverpool for their “profligacy” in recent weeks but predicted the Reds would win the Merseyside derby with Everton focusing elsewhere.
The talkSPORT host explained that Sean Dyche’s team would be focusing on upcoming fixtures against the likes of Luton to help them achieve survival in the relegation battle.
However, he did insist that the Toffees would work hard to achieve a result given the nature of the game at Goodison Park, despite his dismissal of their chances.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [24 April, 12:56], Jordan shared: “I think Liverpool will win this game. I think Everton, because it’s a Merseyside derby, will put a shift in, I’m sure.
“I would expect that the quality of Liverpool, which has evaded them at times due to profligacy in recent games, will return, and I think normal service will be resumed. I think they’ll win this game and move on.
“Everton have got bigger fish to fry at Luton and other places like that to keep themselves in the Premier League.”
Simon Jordan shares Everton v Liverpool prediction
Jordan’s claims came amid positivity at Everton after the win against Nottingham Forest moved them closer towards safety from relegation, and a win tonight would pull them eight points clear of the current bottom three.
There is no doubt that supporters at Goodison Park will have flagged the upcoming clashes with Luton, Brentford and Sheffield United as better opportunities to take all three points, but by no means does that mean the focus is away from Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have shown some weakness recently, losing to both Atalanta and Crystal Palace, and possibly opening the door for other sides to believe they can pick up positive results if they get their game plan right.

It has also been said that discussions have been had at Liverpool’s training ground that they expect their opponents to play at a higher level in the Merseyside derby than they have for the rest of the season, contradicting Jordan’s idea.
