Everton fans left confused after Abdoulaye Doucoure bizarre social media post
Everton fans will likely be confused by Abdoulaye Doucoure’s social media post as he seemed to insult himself after the Toffees secured Premier League safety.
A goal from Idrissa Gana Gueye was enough for Sean Dyche’s team to claim all three points against Brentford on Saturday 27 April, keeping them safe from relegation in the process.
Doucoure has been a regular figure in the Everton team this season, and though he has not scored since December, continues to be a vital part of Dyche’s plans.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday (27 April), Doucoure posted: “Talent 10%, Mental 90%. Never give up.”
Abdoulaye Doucoure celebrates Everton win v Brentford
To an extent it is clear what Doucoure is saying, that his mentality outweighs the talent, but it undoubtedly kind of seems like he is insulting himself at first glance.
However, Doucoure is an incredibly hard worker and has had to be at Goodison Park this season, especially with the threat of relegation and multiple setbacks.
Dyche and his teammates will have missed the Doucoure from the first half of the season as he netted six times in his first 16 appearances, but has not scored since, leaving others to step up to the goalscoring breach.

‘Never give up’ is a catchphrase that can be assigned to each one of the Everton squad members this campaign, with the squad having to reset after two separate points deductions due to Profit and Sustainability breaches.
The Toffees missed the Mali international’s presence when he was sidelined with injury, and were extremely glad to see him return for the last few months of the season.
One thing is for sure, and all Evertonians will agree on this, he has way more than 10 per cent talent!
