Tony Bellew reacts to what ‘amazing’ Everton have done, ‘if Carlsberg did weeks’

Tony Bellew has reacted after a 1-0 victory against Brentford on Saturday (27 April) marked three wins from three matches for Everton.

A smash-and-grab goal from Idrissa Gana Gueye was the only difference between the two sides at Goodison Park, an effort that saw the Toffees move 11 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and ensure their top-flight status.

The victory marked Sean Dyche’s third from Everton’s last three matches, overseeing a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest and a brilliant 2-0 triumph over Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

Taking to X on Saturday (27 April), Bellew wrote: “Blue boys have been amazing recently! 3 games! 3 wins! 3 clean sheets!”, and later tweeted on Sunday (28 April): “If Carlsberg did weeks though…”

Everton claim Premier League safety with Brentford victory

Having secured their Premier League safety on Saturday, the Goodison Park faithful will have fully enjoyed their weekend and who can blame them after this past week?.

Though there is still uncertainty over the Everton takeover and a points deduction hearing hanging over the club, Dyche’s team removing themselves from the relegation conversation leaves one fewer thing to worry about.

Now sitting 11 points above Luton Town in the dropzone, the Toffees can finally sit back and watch the chaos below them ensue as Forest, Luton and Burnley all battle to remain in the division.

It seems that the Everton squad have once again taken inspiration from the controversy and uncertainty surrounding the club, as they did in December when hit with their initial 10-point deduction (later reduced to six on appeal).

That news saw Dyche’s team go on a four-match winning streak, taking three points against Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Burnley, though they would have to wait for the return fixture against the Clarets at the beginning of April to win their next league game.

This recent set of results is even more special, however, having cemented Everton’s rightful place in the Premier League for the 2024/25 campaign.

In other Everton news, King was delighted by what he saw from supporters at Goodison Park in the win over Liverpool.
