Amadou Onana to Barcelona transfer update as Everton escape relegation in Premier League

Barcelona are set to end their interest in Amadou Onana with Everton holding out for at least £51million after securing Premier League safety, according to Sport.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition (29 April, page 10) that Barca are “well aware” of the Toffees’ financial situation, who are now said to have escaped one emergency.

Following a win against Brentford on Saturday (27 April), the Toffees are mathematically safe from relegation in the Premier League.

With that being said, Everton will now demand at least £51million for his signature, something the Spaniards cannot currently afford.

Should Everton sell Amadou Onana?

Onana has been a standout star for the Toffees since moving to Goodison Park from Lille for a sizable fee of £33million [BBC].

He has gone on to make 69 appearances and become a firm fan favourite with his industrious midfield performances.

With injuries, he has only managed to start 21 games this season and come off the bench in a further six games. In that time he has scored two in the Premier League [FotMob].

As a box-to-box midfielder, Onana brings presence and physicality into the midfield combined with gyle and ability on the ball.

This season he has won 64 per cent of ground duels and 72 per cent of his ariels. Going forward he has a 61 per cent dribble success while being fouled 41 times this season.

The Belgian international is someone who is only going to get better with the more game time he gets.

It will be a toss-up for Dyche whether his impact is worth the fee that he could command in the summer transfer window, with money definitely still needed.
