Everton make offer to Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi for summer free transfer

Everton have made an offer to Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi for a move to Goodison Park in the summer, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The RMC Sport journalist reported via Twitter on 29 April that the Toffees were looking to jump ahead of the competition to sign the Nigerian international, with several clubs interested in a deal.

Ndidi, 27, is out of contract at the King Power Stadium at the end of the season, which has already seen the Foxes secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Tavolieri wrote: “Info Everton FC. Free agent this summer, Wilfred Ndidi already received a proposal from the Toffees trying to anticipate the competition.

“Several clubs already working on his case but the Super Eagle didn’t choose his destination yet. Wait and see.”

Everton jump the gun to land Sean Dyche the Nigerian international

The Toffees aren’t likely to be blessed with money to spend this summer with the financial situation at Goodison Park endlessly restrictive.

A third profit and sustainability breach may be on the cards next season already without substantial sales from the current squad, so any attractive options on free transfers would make that much more sense as Everton targets.

Sean Dyche faces the possibility of losing Amadou Onana in a big-money departure, while fellow midfielders Idrissa Gana Gueye and Andre Gomes are set to be out of contract themselves.

If it is the Belgian star who the club are anticipating the exit of it would be a bargain swap to bring in Ndidi in his place for free, with Onana tipped to bring in as much as £80million.

Ndidi would be a more than capable Premier League performer having made 192 appearances in the top flight with the Foxes already.

While Senegalese veteran Gueye has had a huge impact with goals in wins over Liverpool and Brentford to help secure Everton survival once more it remains to be seen what the club feel they can afford to offer him to stay, and Ndidi is seven years the 34-year-old’s junior if he were slated as a straight replacement.

The 53-cap international would appear to make a lot of sense as a potential Dyche signing, but with various other clubs in the picture it will be easier said than done, so the manager will hope the early offer works in his favour.
