Everton catastrophe claim emerges amid 777 Partners takeover chaos
It would have been catastrophic financially had Everton suffered relegation this season, according to Joe Thomas.
Writing in the Liverpool Echo on 1 May, the journalist claims that the threat of catastrophe has now gone as Sean Dyche guided the Toffees to safety.
The challenges came due to the fact that the 777 Partners takeover saga has undergone plenty of twists and turns.
Thomas wrote: “Against the backdrop of the takeover saga, and the consequences of years of financial mismanagement that have led to the deduction of eight points this season, manager Sean Dyche and his players faced an uphill battle to protect Everton from relegation to the Championship – a fate that would have a catastrophic financial impact on the club.
“That threat has now gone after a remarkable week in which three wins – including the morale-boosting landmark Merseyside derby success at Goodison Park – helped the Blues achieve what the club had previously been unable to do across the past two seasons and secure survival with weeks of the season to spare.”
Avoiding relegation was a huge financial boost for Everton
Amid the Everton takeover chaos, avoiding relegation was of paramount importance for the club due to the severe financial implications associated with dropping to the Championship.
The club had already faced points deductions this season due to financial mismanagement, making the battle against relegation even more challenging.
Dyche and his players were under immense pressure to secure the necessary points to stay in the Premier League.
The successful avoidance of relegation not only preserves the club’s status in the top flight but also maintains their financial stability.
The Premier League offers lucrative broadcast deals and sponsorship opportunities that are significantly higher than those in the Championship.
This financial boost is crucial for the Toffees to address their financial issues and potentially invest in the squad to avoid similar situations in the future.

Furthermore, relegation could also have had a devastating impact on the club’s ability to attract new investors or complete the takeover process and that’s no longer a concern.
In other Everton news, a claim on the red tape has emerged as there is now ‘Significant’ interest shown in the club’s takeover beyond 777 Partners.
