Everton takeover update as 777 Partners rivals nearly ready to hijack Goodison Park bid
Finance expert Paul Quinn, better known as The Esk, has shared that a firm rivalling 777 Partners to take over Everton are “ready” and “waiting in the wings”.
777 Partners are yet to gain Premier League approval as the Toffees’ new owners following a failure to present the necessary funds.
The delay has reportedly seen a rival suitor enter the fray, with Quinn suggesting that this unnamed organisation “is not too far away” from making their move.
Quinn posted on X (30 April): “I will return tomorrow to answer earlier questions, but just to establish a couple of things.
“(i) Everton received some funding to meet our monthly obligations but not from the source quoted extensively in the media (ii) The Bonza situation has considerable knock-on effects for 777 & associated companies (more tomorrow) (iii) the club is secure between now & end of [the] season (iv) those “waiting in the wings” continue to be ready to support/acquire the club at the appropriate time, which is not too far away.”
Could Everton be saved by a new potential owner?
It would be quite a miraculous turn of events – from an Everton standpoint – if a new firm were to swoop in and rescue them from the protracted takeover saga that the club has experienced since 777 Partners struck a deal with Farhad Moshiri last year.
Between a series of accusations hanging over the Miami-based firm and their apparent inability – or unwillingness – to meet the Premier League conditions to gain formal approval, Everton fans’ have developed an understandable concern over how their club would be run were 777 to take official control.
The club is in a dire position off the field as it is, with financial mismanagement affecting the team, which was hit with two separate points deductions totalling eight points for breaches of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The result has been a season in which Everton’s thus-far unbroken status as a Premier League club was needlessly threatened, though Sean Dyche’s men have ensured they are now mathematically safe from relegation after a 1-0 win over Brentford on 27 April moved them into 15th, 11 points clear of the drop zone with just three games remaining.
Having resolved the issue of their potential relegation, full focus will now turn to ensuring all off-field problems are sorted out ahead of the 2024/25 campaign – and a new, reliable ownership is top of the priority list.
In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign one “outstanding” talent and could loan him back out immediately.
