Rob Dorsett shares what he expects to happen to Nottingham Forest after Everton controversy

Rob Dorsett expects Nottingham Forest to be charged and punished for the controversial statement made on social media after their contentious defeat to Everton.

The Toffees defeated Forest 2-0 on 21 April in a fixture riddled with controversy at Goodison Park, with the visitors thinking they should have had three penalties awarded against Ashley Young.

Forest released a statement to their X account, which suggested VAR Stuart Attwell is a Luton Town supporter and said the they would be considering their options.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (30 April), Sky Sports reporter Dorsett suggested that punishment for Forest is set to come soon from the Premier League and FA.

He said: “I think what particularly angered the FA and the Premier League about that was the questioning of Stuart Atwell and his integrity. They suggested as a Luton fan, maybe he was giving decisions to cost Forest because that potentially helps a team he supports.

“The Premier League and the FA and Nottingham Forest, the club, their referee’s advisor Mark Clattenberg, Nuno Espirito Santo and Neco Williams were all asked for their observations which are due tomorrow. I fully expect them to be charged and punished.”

Were the decisions right in Everton v Nottingham Forest?

Did Everton have a bit of luck on the day? Possibly, yes. But come on, the luck hasn’t exactly been free-flowing on the Blue half of Merseyside this season so if they had some decisions go their way then good it was about time!

The away side asked the first question as Young looked to have caught Giovani Reyna as he attempted to clear the ball but nothing was doing from the referee.

The second came from Callum Hudson-Odoi as the ball collided with Young’s arm from very close range from the winger’s cross.

Webb and PGMOL have since confirmed these decisions and firmly believe that the right decisions were made on the day [Sky Sports].

The third and final question was asked as the Everton defender crashed through the winger this time and failed to get a touch on the ball.

This one was Webb admitted to be wrong as Young didn’t touch the ball as the referee on the day, Anthony Taylor, believed.

Even if this penalty had been given and scored, the 2-0 advantage that the Toffees accrued would have still resulted in a win…and as mentioned it was about time Everton had some luck go their way anyway.
