Everton takeover: 777 Partners deal to buy Toffees will not happen

777 Partners’ proposed takeover of Everton is “very, very unlikely” to go through, according to Everton News.

The Miami-based firm agreed a deal with Farhad Moshiri in September 2023 but have yet to provide the funds necessary to satisfy the Premier League’s requirements and officially take control of the club.

And Graeme Bailey believes that 777’s attempt to take over at Everton is doomed to end in failure, with rival suitors set to make their move.

Speaking to Everton News (1 May), the journalist said: “From what I’m told, the takeover from 777 Partners won’t go through. I’ve been told that from the start. I’m told it’s very, very unlikely.

“I think there are other parties interested but what happens with the debt and if it passes to other people… It’s a fascinating situation. Well, fascinating is the wrong word, really. A daunting situation.”

Relief for Everton as 777 Partners’ bid looks set to collapse

Everton fans will likely be relieved to hear that 777 Partners are increasingly unlikely to be their club’s new owners.

The protracted nature of their attempted takeover saga, coupled with several allegations against the company and their seeming inability to meet the Premier League’s requirements have all generated plenty of concern among supporters, who have already seen the damage financial mismanagement can have on a club following not one, but two points deductions for breaches of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

That eight-point sanction saw Everton flirt with relegation for longer than anyone associated with the club would have liked, but the 1-0 win over Brentford on 27 April has mathematically ensured the Toffees’ safety, preserving their unbroken Premier League status.

Attention now turns to ownership and financial issues, as well as their impact on transfer activity, with plenty of unanswered questions – even if a new party arrives to take the mantle from 777.

For now, though, Toffees fans will be content to see a more competent and reliable owner acquire their club from Moshiri.

In other Everton news, the club want to sign a young attacker who has been compared to a Champions League winner after his price tag emerged.
