Jordan Pickford shares what Dyche has told Everton players behind the scenes

Jordan Pickford has shared the advice Sean Dyche offered the squad to help Everton get out of relegation trouble.

The Blues have overcome points deductions and financial uncertainty to steer clear of the drop with three games to spare.

Dyche’s side have won their last three league matches to secure their place in the Premier League next season, in stark contrast to last year’s final-day chaos.

“[Dyche] has stripped it all back for us,” Pickford told Sky Sports News (2 May, 07:30am).

“He has made us harder to beat as a defensive unit, and told us we’ll get our rewards for our hard work.

“The platform is there for us to excel – we know what the Everton fans want and that’s 100 per cent.”

With background noise continuing over Everton’s future off the pitch, Dyche claims to be fully focused on matters on the grass.

The manager continues to field the questions regarding 777 Partners’ potential takeover at Goodison Park.

Have Everton turned it around?

An impressive statistic this season from Everton’s perspective is that they boast the fourth-best defensive record in the Premier League.

The Toffees have conceded just 48 goals so far this term, bettered only by the division’s top three.

Additionally, the BluesToffees faithful will be glad to see figureheads like Dyche and Pickford reading from the same hymn sheet.

The past few seasons in particular have been turbulent on the blue half of Merseyside, with senior profiles at the club far too disjointed.

Previously underperforming players in the squad look to have found a rhythm again, and whilst Everton are far from out of the woods yet, the squad and management have turned it on when it really mattered over the past few weeks.

Friday night’s visit to Luton Town was thought a month ago to be the ‘make or break’ contest that could define years to come at Goodison Park.

It is now simply a platform to continue their impressive form – and to potentially weather a storm from a Luton side whose league predicament Everton recognise well.

Among all the carnage behind the scenes, having figures like Dyche and Pickford has been a very steadying influence at Goodison Park.
