Sean Dyche to axe Abdoulaye Doucoure for Everton v Luton Town

Sean Dyche may look to drop one of his first-team regulars in Abdoulaye Doucoure for the Everton v Luton Town clash.

The 31-year-old started in his customary secondary striker position in the 1-0 win against Brentford, but it was not a performance worth writing home about.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin returning from injury and Youssef Chermiti doing enough to justify his spot in the eleven against Luton on Friday, 3 May, it could be worth dropping Doucoure.

Abdoulaye Doucoure struggled for Everton v Brentford

Against Brentford, the Mali international only managed to get on the ball 48 times, which is pretty poor considering Jordan Pickford made 61 touches, per Sofascore.

He was even handed a big chance on a plate and failed to find the target – putting the ball wide of Mark Flekken’s goal.

The 31-year-old completed zero per cent of his crosses and lost his only aerial duel attempt – something that Luton could look to exploit.

Known to be someone who presses and wins back possession, it made for disappointing viewing to see Doucoure winning just 20 per cent of his ground duels.

Of the five attempts, the midfielder managed to win just one and it was a dire display for him.

He did not manage to win a single tackle or make an interception during the 90 minutes he was on the field of play.

Youssef Chermiti in line for another Everton start

Doucoure has been a first-team regular this season for Dyche’s side and now with nothing to play for, trying Chermiti in the shadow striker role could reap rewards.

He has not got enough game time since his summer move and with Calvert-Lewin leading the line, it could be interesting to see how the duo links up.
