Everton and Luton Town fans chants revealed from Kenilworth Road clash
Paul Brown has revealed what Everton and Luton Town fans were chanting at each other at Kenilworth Road on 3 May.
The game ended 1-1 with the Toffees holding on at the end to secure a crucial point while Luton remained in the relegation zone.
The visiting support joked about Luton going down while the home fans jabbed back to make a mockery of the finances.
Via Twitter, Brown, a journalist for Josimar, wrote: “Everton fans sing ‘Going Down’
Luton fans respond with ‘Going Bust’.”
Everton the true winners in the game against Luton Town
The exchange of chants, although humorous, underscores the contrasting situations of the two clubs.
Luton Town, sitting in the relegation zone, desperately needed a win to boost their chances of remaining in the Premier League.
A victory would not only have been a morale booster but also could have significantly improved their position in the league table.
On the other hand, the Toffees, having mathematically secured their spot in the top flight next season, would have been content with a draw.
Given their financial challenges and the competitive nature of the Premier League, avoiding defeat in an away fixture would be seen as a positive outcome.
If Sean Dyche had been offered a draw before the match, it’s highly likely he would have accepted it, considering the circumstances, so he’s very likely to be smiling at the end of it.
