Everton may have already learned appeal fate as David Ornstein shares Nottingham Forest outcome

Everton have already confirmed their place in the Premier League next season, but the drama is still unfolding off of the pitch at Goodison Park.

While 777 Partners continue to push for the approval of their takeover, Sean Dyche’s side are still set to appeal against their two-point deduction that they were hit with for a second breach of profit and sustainability rules.

That appeal will be heard in the final week of the Premier League season and it remains to be seen whether or not the Blues will reduce their penalty, but at the City Ground Nottingham Forest have had their appeal thrown out.

David Ornstein reported on Tuesday (7 May) that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had been unsuccessful in their appeal against their four-point deduction for a breach of the Premier League’s financial rules.

That decision leaves Forest three points above Luton Town in the final relegation spot with two games left to play against Chelsea and a relegation six-pointer on the final day of the Premier League campaign against Burnley.

Under the guidelines, Forest could have been initially hit with a six-point deduction but the Premier League handed out a less severe punishment because of their early plea and co-operation with the investigation.

When will Everton find out about their Everton point deduction appeal at Goodison Park?

If Forest had their appeal thrown out because their deduction was already less severe than it should have been, it’s hard to see how the Toffees could win their case unless there is a genuine case of double jeopardy.

Ultimately, the appeal doesn’t matter too much now at Goodison as the Toffees have already avoided the drop, but a potential boost of one or two points could help Dyche’s side climb a couple of places up the table.

Every place matters in the Premier League table as it means more money will be coming into the football club. With the Toffees’ current financial situation, the importance of that monetary boost cannot be overstated.

Hopefully, Everton will have more luck than the Forest when their appeal is heard, but fans shouldn’t be holding out too much hope.
