Jordan Pickford exit worry emerges after Everton transfer news – ‘Huge loss’

Dan Bardell has praised Sean Dyche for his recruitment at Everton and what he has achieved but believes selling Jordan Pickford could be a mistake.

TalkSport reported (1 May) that Chelsea are heavily interested in the England goalkeeper due to the financial concerns of the Toffees.

Pickford has been a key part of an Everton side which has conceded just 49 goals, the fourth-best defence this campaign.

Dyche will have to make the most of the free transfer and loan market over the summer to bolster his squad.

Bardell believes that this is where the Everton boss can thrive and believes keeping hold of their best players has to be the priority.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “This is the kind of market that Sean Dyche is used to operating in. He did it with Burnley and in a way he’s had to do it with Everton.

“I think they did well with recruitment in the summer all things considered. Sean Dyche has maximised what he can get out of that squad.

“The worrying thing would be if they had to sell an individual. If you look at saleable assets, I know Onana is one.

“Pickford in goal has been brilliant, arguably the goalkeeper of the season. He is a goalkeeper who makes match-winning saves. He helps Everton get points they might not and brings leadership as well.

“If they have to sell someone to manoeuvre in the transfer market goalkeeper is arguably the hardest position to get right. He would be a huge loss.”

How have the Everton signings performed?

The Toffees were only able to make two signings on permanent deals all year and those have proved to be frustrating ones at best.

Although Yousef Chermiti is young, he is yet to score a Premier League or have a real impact despite featuring 16 times.

Similarly, Beto has failed to have a positive effect on Dyche’s side in a bid to start over Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He has just three goals despite featuring 29 times this campaign [FotMob].

Ashley Young came in on a free while Jack Harrison joined on loan and both have proved to be great additions to the squad when fit.

In yet another frustrating deal, Arnaut Danjuma has failed to improve Everton despite coming in with plenty of fanfare.

With all that being said, the Toffees are safe and will play in the Premier League next season. They will need to replace their loans with players of equal or similar quality.
