Everton keeper Pickford new contract update emerges at Goodison Park

Everton under-18s goalkeeper George Pickford has signed his first professional contract at Goodison Park, the club confirmed on 10 May.

Via their official website, Toffees made the announcement that he signed a two-year deal with him committing his future to the club until June 2026.

The 17-year-old moved to Goodison Park when he was 11 and has since come up the ranks and has even trained with the senior side.

Reacting to this news, Director of Football Kevin Thelwell said: “We’re really pleased to have George sign this deal with the Club. He’s been excellent this season with the Under-18s and getting minutes for the Under-21s, along with training sessions with Sean’s squad, highlights the pathway that is there for our young talents.

“We are looking forward to seeing George continue his progression with us at Everton.”

Can Pickford be the next Pickford at Everton?

The young goalkeeper has made significant strides in his development, showcasing his talent during the 2023/24 campaign.

His impressive performances for the under-18s and progression to the under-21s have not gone unnoticed, earning him training sessions with the senior team.

Under the guidance of Leighton Baines and the mentorship of Andy Lonergan, Pickford has shown great potential to follow in the footsteps of current first-team goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

His ambition to play for the senior side is evident, and with his recent contract extension, he is on the right path to achieving his goals.
