Everton ‘severely punished’ after Farhad Moshiri mistakes as 777 Partners development emerges

Dan Bardell believes Farhad Moshiri has always had good intentions with Everton which he has shown recently after seemingly cutting ties with 777 Partners.

A report by The Times Sport (8 May) has suggested that the owner may terminate an agreement with the group due to doubts over their finances.

It had looked as if 777 were going to take over the Toffees in the coming weeks but after this news, other perspective owners are looking more likely.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist, Bardell has suggested this will prove to be a good decision from Moshiri who has Everton’s best interests in mind.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “Obviously, he’s got concerns. The football club hasn’t been run brilliantly over the last few years but I think, from Moshiri, the intent is there he wants to be successful at Everton and do right by them.

“He’s made a lot of mistakes and they’ve been severely punished for them. They’re lucky to still be in the Premier League and they’re only still in it because of Sean Dyche.

“I never feel like he’s been a bad owner, he’s put in a lot of money himself. The worry would be if you get involved with 777 Partners, are they bad owners? Do they have the right intentions? Do they have the resources? It doesn’t seem like they do.

“If I was an Everton fan I wouldn’t be worried, I’d be pleased because there’s something that doesn’t smell right about them.

“The club has been through enough turmoil, it doesn’t need any more false dawns. There’s nothing in that deal that fills me with confidence.”

Who could be the new Everton owners?

777 Partners have had their problems, from paying a loan to the Toffees late while also failing to pay wages at Standard Liege.

With Moshiri taking this red flag as a warning and steering clear there isn’t a lack of options considering a move.

Kevin Malone is one option who is heading up a consortium that may be set to make a bid to purchase the club.

He may be a positive option given his experience running a sports team in the past with the LA Dodgers, but now Malone wants a transition into football.

MSP Sports Capital are also considering a move to buy Everton and also has sports ownership experience through their time with the McLaren F1 team.

The group has already invested in the Toffees after providing money to help continue works on the Bramley Dock Stadium.

This prior link could make them an ideal option for Moshiri when considering his options.
