Administration update emerges at Everton in positive news from Goodison Park

Alan Myers has said that there has been no news of Everton potentially going into administration before the end of the season during this week.

Talk had surfaced of the possibility that the club would be forced into administration, though it has widely been expected that such an eventuality would take place next season, if ever.

And Myers has reinforced the assumption that the Toffees will not be hit with another sanction this term.

When asked if he had heard anything to suggest Everton could go into administration in the final week of the campaign, he responded on X (12 May) by simply posting: “Absolutely nothing.”

Everton safe from relegation regardless of administration threat

Even in the worst-case scenario in which the Toffees are forced to go into administration this week – which would come as a huge surprise – the silver lining is that the nine-point penalty that would accompany such an event would not put the club at risk of relegation.

Luton Town – 18th in the Premier League table – sit on 26 points with one game remaining, while Everton are 15th with 40 after being docked eight points across two deductions for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

A further nine-point sanction would still leave them on 31, five points clear of the drop zone and out of reach for Luton, whose fate was all but sealed following their 3-1 away loss against West Ham United – Nottingham Forest are only three points ahead of the Hatters but a 12-goal swing would be required on the final day for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to be relegated instead.

However, the threat of administration will have to be dealt with at some stage, and Everton could begin next season on negative points if things are not resolved over the summer.

In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign Teden Mengi as a potential Jarrad Branthwaite replacement.
