Alan Myers shares if other buyers are interested in Everton takeover after 777 Partners extension
Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s decision to extend 777 Partners’ takeover deadline doesn’t mean other parties aren’t interested, according to Alan Myers.
Reports emerged on Tuesday [The Telegraph, 14 May] that the Toffees’ majority shareholder had agreed to give the Miami-based firm more time to complete their takeover, with the new deadline set for 31 May.
While that means alternative buyers won’t enter the takeover race until the end of the deadline, Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers insists that this decision hasn’t been taken because of a lack of potential interest.
Replying to a fan on X (14 May) who asked: ‘Is this a sign that there’s nobody else in the running Al?’, he simply replied: “No.”
Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton after Farhad Moshiri agreement?
It seems obvious that Moshiri for one reason or another is desperate to see this deal over the line with 777 Partners and that is why he has been willing to extend the firm’s deadline to raise the much-needed funds.
It doesn’t seem as though the Miami-based company will necessarily be able to match the conditions of the takeover in the extra time however and it feels almost inevitable that this deal will collapse in one way or another.
Reports have suggested that Moshiri himself is beginning to doubt whether or not 777 has the financial power to acquire his stake at Goodison Park and this final extension could well be little more than a last-gasp attempt to get everything over the line.
Whether or not it will be successful remains to be seen, but it can only be a positive thing for Everton that alternative buyers still remain interested and this extension hasn’t been granted because of a lack of interest.
Hopefully, that will still be the case when this extension expires at the end of May and a new deal will be able to be agreed with a completely different party.
