Richard Keys shares immediate title reaction as Arsenal beat Everton at the Emirates
Richard Keys has shared his instant reaction as Manchester City won the Premier League title following Arsenal’s win over Everton.
Sean Dyche’s Toffees battled well against Mikel Arteta’s Gunners on Sunday (19 May) but came away empty-handed as Kai Havertz’s late winner ensured all three points remained in North London.
The win wasn’t enough for Arsenal to get their hands on the Premier League trophy however, as City claimed all three points against West Ham, but Keys was quick to praise the Gunners for their “valiant” effort.
Speaking on beIN Sport on Sunday (19 May) he said: “The final whistle has gone at Arsenal, it has been a valiant season-long effort but they have come up short.
“They’ve beaten Everton today, for a long time it didn’t look as though they would, but they have. In the end, it wasn’t significant because Manchester City beat West Ham by three goals to one.”
Everton win not enough for Arsenal to beat Manchester City to Premier League title
While a majority of the focus at the Emirates will rightly be on the battle at the top of the Premier League table, the Blues deserve plenty of credit for not only their performance but their incredible work across the season.
When faced with ownership issues and point deductions, Dyche’s side has managed to find a way to secure their place in the top-flight for another season with relative comfort, even if it didn’t always look that way.
The scoreline didn’t flatter Everton, but they would have been good value for a point and had they taken their chances when they fell, they could have even ended teh season with a win. Ultimately, it didn’t matter to either side.
Hopefully, the Blues will start next season in the manner they have finished this one as it could be another difficult campaign at Goodison. They’ve already shown this term, they can deal with anything and everything that will come their way.
