Sean Dyche gets it wrong with Youseff Chermiti decision for Everton showdown with Arsenal

Everton manager Sean Dyche has made no changes to his Toffees starting XI for their Premier League showdown with Arsenal on Sunday 19 May.

The Blues boss has named the exact same side that started the 1-0 win over Sheffield United last time out, leaving both Beto and Youseff Chermiti on the bench with Dominic Calvert-Lewin the lone striker.

While Calvert-Lewin has been a regular fixture in the Toffees’ starting XI this term, there have been calls from pundits and players alike for Dyche to bring Chermiti into the fold and start with two centre-forwards.

With the pressure of at the Emirates and relegation already avoided, this would have been the perfect opportunity for Dyche to throw the 19-year-old forward into the fold to see if he is ready to play week in and week out.

Hopefully, Chermiti will at least get some minutes from the bench. That way, Dyche and Kevin Thelwell can decide whether or not a loan exit is needed in the summer transfer window.

Will Everton stop Arsenal from winning the Premier League ahead of Manchester City?

The final day of last season saw the Toffees escape relegation thanks to an excellent goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure. This game might not be as exciting for the Blues, but it could be just as dramatic for the Gunners.

Dyche will just be happy that his side has managed to secure their place in the top flight with plenty of time to spare. Everton can head to North London knowing that this game truly doesn’t matter too much in the grand scheme of things.

However, the former Burnley manager isn’t known for letting his side take their foot off of the gas. He may not be putting the same pressure on his players as he was a month ago, but he will still want to claim all three points.

With so much uncertainty around the blue half of Merseyside heading into the summer transfer window, it will be nice for the supporters to end the campaign on a high before the drama of the off-season gets underway.

Hopefully, Everton can find a way to throw a spanner in the title race and claim all three points. Dyche and his side deserve another win for their excellent work this term.
