Neal Maupay makes admission on future Brentford transfer as Everton return confirmed
Neal Maupay has admitted that he will “miss” Brentford as his loan spell expires and he returns to Everton this summer.
The 27-year-old Frenchman has struggled at Goodison Park since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in August 2022 but has thrived upon his return to the Gtech Community Stadium, scoring eight goals in 31 appearances.
Maupay experienced his first taste of English football with the Bees over a two-year stay, scoring 41 goals in 95 appearances, though he has struggled to adapt elsewhere since leaving.
Speaking in a video uploaded to his personal X account on Sunday (19 May), Maupay said: “I’m going to miss the club, I can’t lie. It’s a long story for me with Brentford. I came here when I was 20, seven years ago. I was a kid then – I didn’t know too much about the club or English football.
“But here I am, seven years later, in the Premier League. I’ve played a few teams but I’ve never received love like I have here. From day one, people loved and appreciated me. They saw that I was a fighter on the pitch and that I would give everything for the shirt.
“I think that straight away, we had that connection. Honestly, I’m going to miss them. I’m local and I live in Brentford. The good moments I’ve had during my time here have been absolutely amazing. I wish everyone could experience that because it’s very special.
“I’m not scared about the future. I know whatever comes next, I’ll be ready for it. So, stay tuned and we’ll see…”
Will Neal Maupay remain at Everton this summer?
It is extremely unclear what will happen to Everton’s loanee this summer as the club delves into the transfer market and looks to find new additions for Sean Dyche.
Of course, with the uncertainty surrounding the takeover at Goodison Park, and the Profit and Sustainability breaches, the Toffees are unlikely to be able to splash the cash this summer.
Considering this, Maupay could be an ideal option for Dyche, especially if Dominic Calvert-Lewin extends his stay at the club, and the two can form a bond in the final third of the pitch.
However, the Frenchman’s video shows that he clearly has a love for the Bees and would probably be open to a permanent move back to the Gtech Community Stadium.

With the forward set to enter the final year of his contract at Goodison Park, it would make sense to offload the player this summer for a fee rather than lose him for nothing next year.
He could choose to stay and fight for a position under Dyche but it seems like a better idea for all parties involved if Maupay were to leave Merseyside during the transfer window.
