Rio Ferdinand shares ‘remarkable’ Sean Dyche verdict amid Everton ‘chaos’

Everton manager Sean Dyche has been praised by Rio Ferdinand for his “remarkable” work amid the “chaos” at Goodison Park.

The Toffees suffered a final-day defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday (19 May) after a controversial late winner from Kai Havertz.

Ultimately, the result makes very little difference to the Blues’ season and while Dyche would have been frustrated to see his side slip to a defeat, TNT Sport pundit Ferdinand was quick to gush over the former Burnley boss.

Speaking on TNT Sport on Sunday (19 May, 15:33) he said: “The chaos, the point deductions they’ve had, without them, they would be level on points with Bournemouth and Brighton this season.

“He’s done a remarkable job, the way that he has galvanised this squad and brought some confidence back to the place, a bit of belief.

“Some of the players that he has brought in have had a good impact in that, but I think the way that he plays, the way that he sets his team up it comes down to coaching them and setting them up in the right way.

“The way that they’ve performed in the back end of the season, they’re a team that are in form.”

Will Everton keep Sean Dyche in charge next season amid 777 Partners problems?

While Dyche won’t have ever expected this job to be easy, the Blues boss could never have imagined just how much chaos there would be at Goodison Park under his watch.

Everton have been hit with two separate point deductions which have dragged the Toffees back into the relegation battle, all whilst 777 Partners’ takeover continues to stall having initially been agreed upon more than eight months ago.

Despite all of that, the former Burnley boss has held his head high throughout the campaign and never once moaned as he has led the Toffees to safety once again. The football may not be pretty, but Dyche has found a winning formula.

Hopefully, more of the off-the-field issues can be solves over the off-season and then the Blues will be able to back Dyche in the transfer window. He deserves to have some money to spend this summer.
