Arsenal sensation confirms exit amid Everton transfer rumours

Omari Benjamin has confirmed that he is leaving Arsenal this summer after being linekd with a move to Everton earlier this year.

The 18-year-old has shared a post on Instagram (20 May), via the Daily Cannon, to say that he was leaving the Gunners after a five-year spell in their academy.

A report from TEAMtalk (13 April) suggested that the Toffees were interested in signing the youngster on a long-term contract.

The contract was said to have been “prepared” back then so it is possible with Benjamin’s announcement a move could be on the cards in the coming weeks.

Everton looking to make smart Omari Benjamin move

There is no doubt that the Toffees have to be smart in the transfer window this summer and maybe for many to come.

With the financial issues that the club have had to deal with in the past year, transfers have to be done with that in the back of their mind.

Signing highly rated young players on free transfers with the future in mind could be proof of a change in transfer tactics.

Benjamin isn’t yet an established player but could prove to be a useful asset at the club for many years to come if he is given the chance.

He is a forward who can play in a variety of different roles while already having experience in under-21s football despite his young age.

It is unclear whether he will be a Sean Dyche-type player given he often prefers more traditional and effective players in his teams.

Given that he will come in on the cheap and is as young as he is, Benjamin would pose a risk-free option for the Toffees this summer.
