777 Partners may raise funds to complete Everton takeover after new Standard Liege development
Everton supporters will have enjoyed a few days of quieter news following the end of the Premier League season.
But in the background, 777 Partners are still looking for a way to complete their takeover of the Toffees and while some have suggested any such deal is dead in the water, others suggest they could still become the new owners at Goodison Park.
Farhad Moshiri has set a new deadline for the Miami-based investment firm to get their ducks in a row and show that they have the financial power to gain approval from the Premier League, 31 May.
Previously, The Esk has suggested that an extension changes nothing as 777 will never be in a position to satisfy the Premier League and match the conditions of their agreement because of their current financial turmoil.
However, it now appears as though the American firm may be moving to raise the required funds sooner rather than later after a new development emerged at their Belgian club Standard Liege.
Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton at Goodison Park?
According to reports in Belgium, investment bank Moelis has been engaged over the sale of the Belgian club by 777 Partners [Lavenier, 22 May] as the Miami-based investment firm looks to find a buyer to take over the team.
Whether or not such a deal will be completed before Moshiri’s new deadline remains to be seen, but it is not out of the question that 777 may view this sale as an opportunity to raise funds to complete their deal at Goodison Park.
Without Premier League approval, the prospective owners of the Toffees cannot push on and to gain the blessing of the league they have to raise the funding to pay off the debt owed to MSP Sports Capital.

The sale of the Standard alone may be enough to help alleviate some of that debt so that 777 Partners can move to acquire Sean Dyche’s side if a buyer is willing to pay the fee that suits the firm.
Hopefully, some clarity will emerge sooner rather than later so supporters won’t be completely left in the dark.
