Everton backed to complete re-signing after defender shares stance on talkSPORT

Bryan King has urged Everton to re-sign Ashley Young after the defender admitted he would like to remain at Goodison Park.

The ex-Everton scout feels that the 38-year-old could prove to be a useful asset for the Toffees next season.

It comes after Young revealed he would be happy to remain with Everton next year (via talkSPORT, 21 May).

The club previously confirmed that Young is to be offered a new one-year contract (17 May), and King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has urged the Toffees to get the deal done.

“I think he has earned another season at Goodison Park,” King said.

“He is a hugely experienced player who has won everything, he is a great asset to have in any squad.

“I don’t think it would hurt to keep him around for another year, especially if the club end up in another relegation battle, he could help keep them in the Premier League.

“It would therefore be a wise move for the club to re-sign him for another season.”

Ashley Young continues to offer use to Sean Dyche and Everton

Despite his age, Young featured frequently under Sean Dyche this season.

He helped keep the club in the Premier League and could look to do so again.

Considering the continued issues at Everton, it is not difficult to imagine they might once again be fighting for survival next season.

Should Young stick around, he could once again prove to play a key role in keeping the Toffees up.
