Everton takeover update as Farhad Moshiri jets out to Spain over Goodison Park crisis talks

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has flown to Spain for crisis talks with George Downing and Andy Bell, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist reported on his Patreon page on Friday (24 May) that the Toffees chief is looking for alternative ways to get out of the Blues’ financial crisis as 777 Partners’ takeover continues to stall.

Moshiri and the Toffees need further funding soon as they continue construction on the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium while also covering regular bills to keep the football club running.

Both Downing and Bell have already spent millions on the new Everton stadium and they could even inherit the club because of the sheer amount of money owed to them already.

The current Blues owner paid the pair a visit in Spain after he admitted that he would be looking for alternatives to 777 who are facing financial and legal issues of their own currently.

Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton at Goodison Park?

Throughout this entire process, Moshiri has appeared committed to seeing 777 Partners’ takeover over the line at Goodison Park, but it seems that even he has come to realise this deal could already be dead.

Nothing that the Miami-based investment firm have done since they agreed on a deal with Moshiri to acquire his controlling stake in the Toffees has suggested that they are fit to take over the reins on the blue half of Merseyside.

With issues emerging across their businesses both inside and outside of the sporting world, it would be best for all parties if this deal was knocked on the head now and alternative buyers could be found as quickly as possible.

Hopefully, these crisis talks will have had the desired outcome and once the new deadline passes for 777 to complete their takeover at the end of May, progress can be made with a new buyer to stop the Toffees falling into administration.
