Everton takeover verdict shared by Esk as Crystal Palace chief sets record straight

The Esk has issued a sceptical verdict surrounding the Everton takeover after what Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor said.

Textor revealed that he’s looking to share Eagle Football’s stake, which is understood to be 45 per cent, in Palace to pursue the takeover of the Toffees.

However, it’s understood that he’s attempting to sell this stake for a while and has failed to achieve any success.

Via Twitter, Esk wrote: “Re Textor – I appreciate he’s quoted in established media but why would he weaken his negotiating position in selling his Eagle Holding by expressing interest in Everton if he was a serious contender to buy Everton?

“He’s been trying to sell his Palace stake for quite some time without success.”

John Textor may be leveraging position by expressing interest in Everton

Textor’s interest in the Toffees, despite his ongoing attempts to sell his stake in Crystal Palace, could be interpreted as a strategic move.

By expressing interest, Textor might be trying to leverage his position in the football club ownership market.

This could potentially attract more potential buyers for his stake in Crystal Palace or even generate interest from other parties looking to invest in Everton.

By publicly showing interest in the Toffees, he could also be aiming to create a sense of competition among potential buyers, thereby strengthening his negotiating position.

Additionally, his statements could be seen as a way to demonstrate his commitment to football club ownership, possibly reassuring potential investors of his credibility and long-term interest in the sport.

Whether or not this goes ahead, remains to be seen, but the Toffees will be in safer hands as compared to the 777 Partners.
