Everton want to sign £6m Newcastle United ace Yankuna Minteh as Calvert-Lewin ‘ingredient’ emerges
Everton are in the hunt to sign Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their website on Sunday (26 May) that while the Blues have shown an interest in the 19-year-old, who spent the season on loan at Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, the financial state at Goodison Park means there’s little certainty over a deal.
The Mail adds that an “added ingredient” in the Toffees’ interest in Minteh is that Newcastle are keen on Dominic Calvert-Lewin. However, it is understood that Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is a more pressing target at St James’ Park at this moment in time.
Who will Everton sign in the summer transfer window?
Everton’s summer is going to be a weird one because the main issue at Goodison Park revolves more around the club’s ownership and the ongoing financial issues.
That means the big stories in the coming months will likely be about who is leaving Merseyside, rather than who is arriving on the blue side of Stanley Park for Everton’s final season at Goodison Park.
Minteh signed for Newcastle from Danish side OB Odense last year for £6million.
However, despite costing a lot of money for a young player from Denmark, the Gambia international was sent out on loan to Feyenoord with him not being in Eddie Howe’s immediate first-team plans.

While in Rotterdam, Minteh scored 11 goals and supplied six assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. He also won the Dutch Cup with Feyenoord, however, he was sent off in the final against NEC Nijmegen for two bookings in the space of a minute.
It would be good to see Kevin Thelwell bringing in talented young players to help Sean Dyche’s side in the Premier League next season but fans can’t get excited just yet by speculation of incoming when there’s bound to be exits first.
