PSR rules not fit for purpose amid Everton and Jarrad Branthwaite transfer dilemma
Andy Dunn has slammed profit and sustainability rules as they could see Everton forced to sell Jarrad Branthwaite during the summer transfer window.
The Toffees have had their struggles with finances which has seen them slapped with points deductions throughout the season.
The transfer market opening date is on the horizon which could see some key departures from Goodison set to come.
In a column for the Sunday Mirror (26 May, page 67), Dunn believes the Toffees will look to sell Amadou Onana or Dominic Calvert-Lewin to help PSR rather than Brathwaite.
He also suggested that selling the defender could be “more beneficial” to help comply with financial rules.
Dunn slammed this saying: “That, in a nutshell, is why they are not fit for purpose.”
Could Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite this summer?
Everton’s defence was the basis of an excellent campaign which saw Sean Dyche secure Premier League safety with time to spare.
Although there was plenty of chopping and changes in the full-back positions, the core of the back four was maintained throughout.
The combination of Branthwaite with Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski worked a treat and gave the Toffees a base to build from.
The trio have received plenty of praise for their performances and with that comes transfer rumours linking them away.
Branthwaite has been the one that many top sides including Manchester United [iNews] have their eye on given his age and quality.

This could see the 21-year-old depart for as much as £80m this summer which would certainly go someway to helping FFP and PSR concerns.
A move away could hinge on Farhad Moshiri and whether he can find a suitable buyer for Everton before the summer transfer window ends.
Dyche will be keen to keep hold of his key players as he looks to build on a positive campaign last time around.
