777 Partners takeover gets answer as Everton update emerges
777 Partners’ takeover attempt to buy Everton will likely not happen after Josh Wander was removed from the football board of the firm, according to Dan Plumley.
Wander has largely been the face of the Miami-based investment firm’s attempts to buy the Toffees but was removed from the board of the company’s football operations and removed from Standard Liege recently.
When asked what the news could mean for 777’s takeover of Everton with a deadline of May 31 looming to complete the deal, football finance expert Plumley believes it is the final nail in the coffin.
“They’re statement verdicts aren’t they,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“It’s the people within, in this case, Standard Liege, saying that this has gone on for too long, or this has got to the point of no return, and it’s those kinds of decisions then, especially with the influential figures and him, in particular, being behind a lot of what we’ve seen at Everton, it’s always been his face on the front of it, that is not just the business repercussions but the personal repercussions as well in this particular story.
“It’s a big statement from Standard Liege but they look like they are in all kinds of trouble as well, and again that won’t be any crumbs of comfort for Everton fans, but it really does heighten the situation.
“When you factor all those things in, Standard Liege and Vasco da Gama, the bankruptcy claims, and roll back all of the history that we’ve seen, I just think that logic dictates that this takeover now is not going to happen with 777 and then that’s when you’re into what-if scenarios from then on in.”
Everton need ownership situation to be solved ASAP
777 Partners initially agreed to their takeover deal in September 2023 and were expecting it to be complete by the end of the year.
Yet we’re now almost halfway through 2024 and are no closer to a solution, and it’s absolutely ridiculous that the Premier League and Farhad Moshiri have allowed it to go on this long without a resolution being found.
It’s clear they are incapable of completing this deal and have been for months, so Moshiri should have pulled the plug a long time ago and started looking for alternative options.

Thankfully that is now in place and there are several options reportedly showing an interest in getting a deal done, but the club needs clarity and quickly to be able to move forward.
The summer transfer window is about to open and clear question marks are remaining about the budget and the needs financially, so the quicker this can get solved the better for everyone.
In other Everton news, the club want to sign this Manchester City ace on loan this summer.
