Manchester City backed to subsidise Kalvin Phillips wages at Everton amid loan news
Bryan King has backed Everton to sign Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips on loan.
The ex-Goodison scout believes the Premier League champions could help the Toffees cover the midfielder’s wages at Goodison Park.
It comes after a report in The Independent (28 May) revealed that Everton are hopeful of signing Phillips on loan.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t see why a deal can’t get done.
“If they can bring Phillips to the club, then why not?” King said.
“I think they need a midfielder of his profile, and I think Phillips is better acquainted with life up north.
“This could potentially be a good move for both parties. I am sure Manchester City would be able to help out with the wages.”
Kalvin Phillips could reignite his career with Everton at Goodison Park
Phillips to Everton feels like a good fit.
Sean Dyche is likely the type of manager who would be able to get the best out of the 28-year-old.
While he did struggle at West Ham, he only had half a season to adapt at a club which was in very poor form.

If the Toffees were to sign Phillips on loan for an entire season, and he had the pre-season to get used to his surroundings, he could potentially rediscover his old form.
