John Textor could now be just hours away from Everton takeover talks with Farhad Moshiri

There might finally be some light at the end of the tunnel for Everton fans at Goodison Park.

Once June arrives, Everton supporters might never have to read about 777 Partners again.

It has been a long and gruelling eight and a half months since the American investment firm agreed to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake at Goodison Park.

Very few could have foreseen the problems that would arise, and at one point it felt like the saga might never end.

But it finally appears as if the Miami-based group have run out of time (via The Guardian, 30 May).

Moshiri extended a share purchase agreement (SPA) with 777 to 31 May, a decision which would have baffled many considering the well-documented financial and legal troubles at 777.

However, with that deadline having now passed, what many have known for weeks has finally been confirmed.

The deadline has been missed by 777, and Moshiri is now free to talk to new prospective owners.

John Textor could be set for takeover talks with Farhad Moshiri at Everton

While 777 could still technically act on their interest in Everton, there is now no longer any legal obligation for Moshiri to stand by the previous agreement.

This is by no means a solution in itself, but the agreement expiring does open up the possibility of solutions presenting themselves.

Moshiri has previously revealed that other parties have stepped forward with an interest.

Perhaps the most high-profile of those is John Textor, who owns a 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace.

The businessman has inquired about Everton but was unable to act on his interest. Until now.

The Toffees are still in a world of financial trouble, and Mohsiri will be keen to waste no time getting fresh talks underway.

This could lead to the Everton owner and Textor holding takeover talks as soon as possible.

Perhaps even as soon as today.

Farhad Moshiri will be keen to find new Everton owners.

There is no reason to wait around, and while Textor isn’t necessarily in a rush, Moshiri and Everton certainly are.

The quicker talks take place, the quicker a deal might potentially be reached.

As a result, it looks as if the coming days could prove massive for the future of Everton Football Club.

In other Everton news, the club could accept a £30million bid plus add-ons for one exit-linked star.
