Everton financial issues to block potential £8.5m transfer deal
Bryan King claims Everton could find it “difficult” to agree a deal for Anton Matković.
The ex-Goodison scout believes the Toffees’ financial struggles make it hard for them to sign the “talented” Croatian youngster.
As previously reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (5 November), Everton are monitoring Matković.
And according to Večernji list (26 May), NK Osijek could ask for as much as £8.5million for the striker who has been likened to Mario Mandžukić.
But King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t believe the 18-year-old will end up at Everton.
“He is a good player with great potential, but he isn’t ready for top-flight football,” King said.
“He’s a talented boy with great pace and stamina, and these are the kind of youngsters who Premier League clubs should be looking at.
“But Everton are in a lot of financial trouble, which could make a deal difficult “
Everton cannot afford to bring Anton Matković to Goodison Park
Matković might have a big future ahead of him.
He could be an £8.5million player who is worth triple that fee in a few years.
However, the Toffees are in no position to spend that type of money on an unproven player.
They need to be smart about their business this summer, and if they’re going to bring players to the club, they need guaranteed returns on their investments.
In other Everton news, the club have been handed a major boost in their bid to re-sign one player.
