Dan Friedkin could set up Everton friendly v Roma after takeover bid
Everton will likely face AS Roma in a pre-season friendly if Dan Friedkin completes a takeover at Goodison Park, according to Corriere Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reported in their print edition (10 June, page 10) that the Toffees could host the Giallorossi in early August for the second of two England-based Roma friendlies.
Daniele De Rossi has reportedly asked owner Friedkin, who is in talks to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake at Goodison Park, to play part of their pre-season in a “cooler location” – likely England, with another friendly against Manchester United mooted.

Friedkin to forge links between Everton and Roma
Everton could become another member of the increasing number of teams involved in a multi-club ownership model if Friedkin does emerge as the man to succeed Farhad Moshiri as majority shareholder.
The Toffees faithful could have already been anticipating such a model if Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor sold his shares in the London club to complete a buyout at Goodison Park – joining Lyon, Botafogo and RWD Molnebeek in his arsenal [Rodrigo Calvazzo].

However, Textor has since confirmed to Goodison News that he is not a front-runner to buy the Toffees and never was, news that coincided with Friedkin emerging as a serious contender.
Facing Roma in a pre-season friendly at Goodison Park could be the start of a special relationship between the two clubs under Friedkin, setting up another meeting further down the track.
The club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock on Liverpool’s waterfront is scheduled to open at the start of the 2025-26 season, and with Friedkin at the helm, hosting Roma in its first-ever match would be a dream PR scenario for the Californian’s ownership of the two historic clubs [Royal Blue Podcast].
