Everton player sale update emerges on June 30 deadline after accounts verdict
Dan Plumley has insisted that there is a clear financial problem at Everton with players potentially needing to be sold before June 30.
The finance expert admitted that the pressure is there to sell but the Toffees will not want to give too much away to weaken their negotiating position.
Jarrad Branthwaite is the player most heavily linked with an exit at Goodison Park, with Manchester United chiefs expecting a deal to go through this month [Liverpool Echo].
“You’re going off the accounts of previous years,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“There is a clear financial problem at the club, all the narrative has been beforehand that a deal needs to be done before the end of the season and it was even earlier going backwards and the deadline keeps on shifting.
“From everything that we can see from the outside looking in, the pressure is still there to sell and I think there is no one arguing that.
“I understand that the club will say differently and they’ve got to come out and front up and that’s important as well, and of course, in any negotiation, there is that to factor in as well, you don’t want to give away your hand too much.
“That’s just the way that business works, but whether it’s an absolute desperation to sell before June 30, only the club will know, but I think it’s clear that this takeover needs to be sorted out as soon as possible.”
Everton to sell players before June 30?
With the 777 Partners agreement to take over at Everton now expired, the saga is only going to drag on for many more weeks, maybe even months at Goodison Park.
That means that there will be no quick solution to these financial issues other than to sell players, that is just the brutal reality that many of us will now have to face.
