Everton new bidders sent message on Sky Sports News as ‘excruciating’ takeover rumbles on
Jonathan Liew has urged prospective new Everton owners Vici Private Finance to be transparent with fans ahead of a potential takeover.
Farhad Moshiri has been working on finding a buyer for the Toffees over the past year without any success so far.
The Times have now reported (13 June) that at least two billionaires have backed a bid for the club from Vici Private Finance, advised by former Everton board member Kieth Harris.
Speaking on Sky Sports News (13 June, 9:48 pm) Liew believes these new bidders should be transparent with fans after an unclear year of rumours.
He said: “On the face of it, it sounds promising. I have to admit that I’ve not heard of this investment group before. I think for Everton fans who are watching this saga drag on, what’s needed is a bit of transparency.”
“It must be so excruciating if you are a fan of Everton to have had to follow this story through gossip that is picked up in the media. I think if this bid is serious they have to be frank with Everton fans and make it very clear where they stand.”
Fresh bid made to Farhad Moshiri for Everton
The uncertainty surrounding the Toffees has left fans in a limbo especially with links to fresh bidders being consistent in recent weeks.
With nothing yet being concrete, there are no guarantees that there will be new owners by the beginning of the season.
This could certainly lead to a disrupted summer for Sean Dyche who will be looking to build on a positive campaign at Goodison Park.
Despite all the distractions with points deductions and financial problems, survival was confirmed with plenty of time to spare.
What may give Everton fans hope is the number of different links to new bids which shows that there is plenty of interest there.

Moshiri will be keen to find a new owner as soon as possible but he has shown that he will take his time before allowing the club to be sold.
He did so with 777 Partners and will likely do so again if the bid from Vici Private Finance does progress in the coming weeks.
