Fabrizio Romano issues update on Manchester United and Everton talks for Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton and Manchester United have not yet advanced in talks over a transfer for centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Itallian journalist reported via X on Friday (14 June) that the Toffees have no plans to sell the Englishman for anything less than £65million.

Branthwaite is keen on a move to Old Trafford with The Times reporting on Thursday (13 June) that the 21-year-old had agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

However, Branthwaite is not the only player on United’s shortlist for a new centre-back, as the club has three more options in that position.

Will Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United?

Branthwaite is keen on a move to Old Trafford which complicates things for the Toffees.

Although they remain adamant that they won’t sell the player for less than £65million, the fact that he wants to leave Goodison Park now undermines their negotiating power.

United have already convinced the player, now they must convince his club.

And considering the Toffees’ financial struggles and Branthwaite’s desire, it appears that is more than possible for United to do.

While Everton are very firm on their current stance, as time goes by that stance is likely to soften.

If Branthwaite becomes more impatient and starts to actively push for a move to Old Trafford that could force the Toffees into selling.

There is no point in keeping hold of a player who is unhappy at the club, especially when his sale could ease so many of the troubles at Goodison Park.

For now, a deal is not advanced, but that could very quickly change.

In other Everton news, the club have agreed a £20million-per-year behind-the-scenes deal at Goodison Park.
