Juventus to decide on Arthur amid Everton transfer development after what Jurgen Klopp said
Juventus are set to be evaluating the future of Arthur Melo amid interest from Everton, according to journalist Giorgio Musso.
The Calcio Mercato reporter has detailed that Arthur has “caught the interest” of the Toffees ahead of the now-open summer transfer window.
However, the Merseyside club aren’t the only ones in the race for the midfielder as Napoli are also reportedly vying for his transfer.
What Arthur Melo could bring to Everton
The former Liverpool man has had a torrid time over the last couple of seasons, however, the 2023/24 campaign showcased that there is still a very solid player in there somewhere.
Arthur played a total of 48 times for Fiorentina last season and even managed to chip in with six-goal contributions.
Granted, these numbers aren’t the most astounding, but when it’s taken into account that the 27-year-old played the vast majority of the 2023/24 season as a defensive midfielder, the numbers start to look a bit better.
And, although his previous stint in England was tainted due to the injuries he sustained, that doesn’t mean that the same will happen again.
Despite him not having the best of times with Liverpool, that didn’t stop Jurgen Klopp from lauding the midfielder with praise during his time at Anfield.
When asked about what he brought to Liverpool, the German said the following to Liverpool’s Official Website: “What does he bring? He’s a really good footballer – I think we all agree on that.
“He had a very exciting career already and still pretty young, so in the best age for a footballer or coming into the best age for a footballer.
“He gives rhythm, he can give rhythm, he’s a really good passer, has speed with the ball, safe on the ball and, how I said, can demand rhythm, which is pretty important, really good in tight areas – all these kind of things. I like it a lot.
“And now, of course, it’s like this, ‘Why can you loan a player like this? Because it didn’t work out 100 per cent at Juventus.’ But I see that rather as a positive because the potential is, for sure, still there.
Not only does this outline what sort of player Arthur is but also shows how much of a coup he could be for Sean Dyche.
How would Arthur Melo fit into the Everton setup?
Within their ranks, the Toffees already have Amadou Onana as their starting defensive midfielder.

However, as with most clubs in Everton’s situation, the midfielder is looking likely to be one of the many players on the chopping block out of necessity rather than want.
A pricetag of around £50m has been set by Everton, which for a player of Onana’s quality and importance to the club, seems very reasonable.
Hence, why Dyche could be looking at bringing in Arthur as his replacement.
But, if Onana chooses to stay with the Toffees, he could easily slot just above the Belgium international and create a solid partnership for the 2024/25 season.
