Everton mistake cleared up as newspaper clarifies what they’ve previously reported
Everton acted “morally right” in regard to the ending of their relationship with USM Holdings, according to The Morning Star.
The newspaper (page 14, 14 June) have amended something they reported in a prior piece around the ending of the partnership between Everton and Alisher Usamanov’s company, USM Holdings.
In The Morning Star page 22, 14 June the prior report is detailed and within it is claimed that The Toffees “had to end ” their relationship with Usamanov’s company.
However, this was incorrect as, at the time like many other companies Everton decided to stand in line with the EU sanctions on Russia and cut ties.
It’s also reported that Labour politician Chris Bryant intervened with the deal, however, it was the Toffees who acted swiftly and “morally” despite his claims.
What is the current financial situation of Everton looking like
Everton have found themselves in something of a pickle this season.
The Toffees have not only had point deductions but have been barely able to make any much-needed additions to their squad due to the financial constraints the club finds themselves under.
Usmanov had a key part to play in the financing of Everton so, when the ties were cut, this resulted in mass losses for the club.
But, because the club chose to abide by the EU sanctions, this resulted in the loss which gave them the points deduction.

However, with the 2024/25 season just around the corner, talks of incomings and outgoings have once again picked up.
The most recent of which is the departure of star defender, Jarrad Branthwaite.
Since his sudden burst onto the scene this term, Manchester United have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 21-year-old.
In fact, it has even been reported that the defender is “open” to joining the Red Devils this summer.
A fee in the region of £70m is reportedly what would be required for his transfer [the Daily Mail], which for a player of Branthwaite’s quality, seems fairly reasonable.
In other Everton news, the future of Neal Maupay at the Toffees has been decided.
