Area Everton will try to exploit in summer transfer window shared amid ‘mixed success’ verdict

Everton will be looking to “exploit” the loan market this summer despite the Toffees having “mixed success” with loans in the past, according to Joe Thomas of the Liverpool ECHO.

The report details that last season Everton believed they had “two of the best loan deals” of the window in Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma.

And, although the transfer of Danjuma “did not quite fit” into Sean Dyche’s season plans, they are still looking to bring some loans in over the course of summer.

Everton managed to avoid relegation once again this term despite having a total of eight points docked for two separate breaches of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

With those financial fears still very much in play, Thomas says the loan market will once again be an area the club look to utilise.

“The Blues will be looking to exploit the loan market this summer and the spaces available must be filled wisely,” he wrote for the Echo (17 June).

“The club has had mixed success on this front since Kevin Thelwell joined in February 2022. In his first season, the deal that brought Conor Coady in was a coup, particularly after Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey suffered serious injuries in the opening league game of the season. But Ruben Vinagre was barely used.

“Last season, Everton’s recruitment team believed it had snared two of the best deals on the market by bringing in Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma. But while Harrison became central to the team, Danjuma did not quite fit into Dyche’s plans.”

The players Everton could bring in this summer

As aforementioned, the Toffees have had mixed success when it comes to loan moves.

This is also the same case when it comes to permanent transfers. As many will know, the future of Jarrad Branthwaite is up in the air with Manchester United already having their first bid rejected for the youngster.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a player Everton are desperate to keep hold of this summer.

The 21-year-old has arguably been one of Everton’s best players over the course of the last season with the defender making a total of 41 appearances and scoring three goals.

Despite the youngster not yet leaving Goodison Park, the club have already set their sights on his replacement.

As Hull City’s Jacob Greaves has been highlighted as a possible target this summer [Hull Live, June 16], however, a “significant bid” would have to be made to pry him away from The Tigers.

As long as Dyche makes the right moves, there’s no reason why Everton can’t be battling to finish in at least mid-table during the 2024/25 Premier League season.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been linked with a £20m move for an ex-top-flight striker.
