Media reacts to Everton star Amadou Onana after Slovakia humiliation for Belgium

Everton ace Amadou Onana was in action as Belgium were shocked 1-0 by Slovakia at Euro 2024 on Monday (17 June).

The Red Devils missed a host of chances and had two goals ruled out as Ivan Schranz’s seventh-minute effort saw them succumb to a Group E defeat.

Still, though, Toffees ace Onana was among those to at least come out with some credit for a decent performance in Frankfurt.

Goal (17 June) rated the 22-year-old a solid 7/10 and claimed that he “looked strong” and helped “keep pressure” on Slovakia during their goal.

One Football also ranked the youngster at a 7/10 which goes to show how well he played. The media outlet claimed that Onana “won his battles” and “did his job defensively” which is as much as you can ask from any player.

Where could Everton star Amadou Onana end up after Euro 2024?

Across the 2023/24 season, Onana has been at the centre of attention due to his performances for the Toffees.

It comes as no surprise that that the former Lille man has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park and he has spoken previously of wanting to use the Euros as an opportunity to showcase his skills.

His strength to hold the ball up and link the defence with the attack is second to none and he has all the attributes you’d want from a defensive-midfielder.

If Onana can manage to keep up these strong performances throughout the duration of Belgium’s stay in Germany then rumours of an exit, which could help Everton’s precarious Profit and Sustainability situation, will only grow.

The French side have recently lost Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid and will be looking to rebuild their squad and finally gain the elusive Champions League title.

Only time will tell where Onana ends up but, for now at least, it’s looking likely that his future will be away from Everton.
