Arsenal enquire about Amadou Onana as £100m transfer claim emerges at Everton

Bryan King believes Everton would accept £100million combined for Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer transfer window.

The ex-Goodison scout feels that Onana would fit in well at a club such as Arsenal, who finished runners-up in the Premier League last season.

It comes after the Liverpool Echo reported (14 June) that Mikel Arteta’s side have enquired about the midfielder, with the Toffees holding out for a fee of £50m.

But King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – claims that Everton are overpricing Onana, just as they have done with Branthwaite.

“I think Onana might be better suited for a club like Arsenal,” King said. “However, I think £30m with add-ons would be a fair figure for him, not £50million.

“Everton want close to £130m for Branthwaite and Onana. Well, they’re not going to get that. I would imagine if they got £100m for the pair of them then they would be very happy with that.”

Everton could be forced to sell Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana

Supporters at Goodison Park will be keen to keep hold of some of their big-name stars.

Branthwaite and Onana are two of the club’s most valuable players and were therefore always likely to attract plenty of interest.

And, understandably, the Toffees want as much money as possible for both players.

However, they might need to reconsider their figures if they want to generate any cash at all when it comes to player sales.

As much as the club can continue to hold out for bigger fees, the reality is that some players do need to be sold.

And while it might not be the exact fee they are after, £100m for both Onana and Branthwaite would certainly go a long way in easing some of Everton’s financial worries.
