Manchester United ready to end Jarrad Branthwaite interest after Everton reject offer

Manchester United will end talks with Everton over a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite if the Toffees show no willingness to budge on their valuation, according to ESPN.

The online outlet reported on Thursday (20 June) that United have so far had one bid of £35million, plus £8m in add-ons, rejected by Everton.

Everton have made it clear they want more than £70m for the centre-back, which United have stated they are not willing to match.

It is claimed that the Red Devils will not bother with an improved offer unless Everton lower their price, while they may now walk away altogether.

Everton right to stand up to Manchester United

This is a tactic we have seen countless times before – not just with John Stones and Manchester City, but other players in the years since.

The buying club, in this case Manchester United, make a bid way short of the selling club’s valuation. They then threaten to walk away, before scurrying back with a new bid.

United believe Everton will bottle it and sell Branthwaite on the cheap due to needing to hit PSR targets by the end of the month, but they have another thing coming.

Everton know that they have an absolute gem in Branthwaite who is undoubtedly worth £70m. If United do not want to pay that, it is time to sign one of their countless other targets.

The elite clubs need to learn that they cannot have their own way and try to pick up the best of the rest for a fee they are willing to pay.

In other Everton news, the Premier League have been praised with regards to the Toffees’ takeover situation.

Instead, why not nurture a centre-back through their own ranks and save themselves £70m? Everton are right to stand up to the Red Devils, who will be made to look silly if they think the Toffees will buckle.
