Everton transfer news as Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa twist emerges
Everton striker Lewis Dobbin is in advanced talks as he looks to secure a move to Aston Villa, according to Lewis Steele.
The Daily Mail journalist claimed on 20 June that this is a separate deal from the Tim Iroegbunam one as he is closing in on a move to Goodison Park as well.
The 21-year-old is expected to follow the likes of Andy Lonergan, Dele Alli, Andre Gomes and Arnaut Danjuma out of the door.
Steele wrote on Twitter: “Everton closing in on A Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam for around £9m.
“Expect a swift conclusion and medical might happen in next days. Lewis Dobbin in advanced talks to go the other way in separate deal (good for PSR)
“Jack Harrison set to re-join on loan from Leeds.”
Everton may regret the sale of Lewis Dobbin this summer
Dobbin is a player Sean Dyche admires and had it not been an important sale for PSR, the manager would’ve liked to have kept him.
Speaking about the striker in 2023, Dyche said: “I thought Lewis Dobbin did fantastically well after coming after a good pre-season and I thought Arnaut Danjuma did well, coming into a game which is difficult, but you can see him getting fitter and sharper.”
Dobbin brings youthful energy and potential to this Toffees side.
The 21-year-old forward has shown promise in his limited first-team appearances, with his pace, dribbling and ability to take on defenders making him a threat in attack.
His versatility to play across the frontline and as an attacking midfielder adds depth to Everton’s squad.
He was often brought off the bench as a Plan B for Dyche who will now have to look at other options.
Hopefully, the Toffees end up signing a new striker this summer to not just be a backup but challenge for a regular starting berth.
