Everton double deal close to completion as Lewis Dobbin exit talks advance – Fabrizio Romano

Aston Villa are advancing in talks to sign Lewis Dobbin from Everton, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist revealed via X on Friday (21 June) that Dobbin is closing in on a move to Villa Park.

In addition, Everton have already completed the signing of Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam for a fee of around £9million.

Both deals are now set to be sealed.

Lewis Dobbin set to join Aston Villa as Tim Iroegbunam heads to Everton

It appears as if Villa and Everton have both swapped one young player for another.

While this deal isn’t officially a swap deal, it might as well be. Therefore, only time will tell which club got the better deal in this situation.

Dobbin, 21, is slightly older than Iroegbunam, 20, but there is only a year in it between the two players.

The striker has never really found his feet at Goodison Park and he will no doubt be delighted with a move to Villa where he will have the chance to feature in the UEFA Champions League.

Meanwhile, Iroegbunam has demonstrated that he has talent, but he hasn’t been offered many opportunities to showcase that talent by Unai Emery.

Therefore for the midfielder, this is equally as good a move.

As for the Toffees and Villa, the winners of this deal will be whoever’s young player ends up fulfilling their potential.
