Personal terms fully agreed as Everton close to new transfer on long contract

Everton have fully agreed personal terms on a long-term contract to sign Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa, according to TEAMtalk.

Writing on its website (20 June), the news outlet reports that the Villa midfielder will join the club in a deal worth £9million, with the 20-year-old already on his way to Finch Farm for a medical [Secret Scout, 20 June].

Iroegbunam will sign a long-term contract at Goodison Park to become part of Sean Dyche’s squad for the 2024/25 season, with midfield a priority position to strengthen after the departures of Andre Gomes and Dele Alli.

Everton target youth with sell-on potential in transfer window

With sales expected in the summer transfer window, Everton are clearly targeting a new market for their own incomings this summer and that means younger players.

Iroegbunam had a great loan spell with QPR two seasons ago but struggled to get into Unai Emery’s first-team plans at Villa Park in 2023/24 and wants more regular first-team football.

With Gomes and Dele leaving when their contracts expire and the expectation being that Amadou Onana will leave Goodison Park [TEAMtalk, 15 June] with the club keen to balance their books, there is a gap or two in midfield that needs filling.

Everton are set to sign Tim Iroegbunam.

The 20-year-old has the ability to come into the squad and make an impact, but more importantly arguably is the fact he can still improve a lot and potentially make the club a lot of money in the future.

It’s the new model at the club, and if this deal goes through and goes well then you can surely expect to see even more similar transfers in the future.
