USA sources speak out on Dan Friedkin as Everton takeover news drops
Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers shared what he has heard about Dan Friedkin as the American gears up to complete his takeover of Everton.
It was confirmed by the club on Saturday (June 20) that the Friedkin Group, who also own Italian Serie A side Roma, has been granted exclusivity to try and get a deal done.
Myers has spoken about the positive reviews he has been told about Friedkin as he aims to complete a deal with Farhad Moshiri.
“I spoke to a few contacts in the USA, and in particular Texas, and every time the word came back “he’s a good guy,” Myers told Sky Sports (21 June).
“‘Ah Mr Toyota’ said one source, ‘he’s very respected by the business community here in the States’, in fact it was impossible to find anyone with a negative view.”
What comes next for Dan Friedkin and Everton this summer?
After years of financial turmoil and uncertainty off the pitch, for the first time in a long time Everton supporters can have a real sense of optimism over the future of their club.
There was almost a sense of relief when the 777 Partners takeover hit the skids given all the issues that seemed to rear their head from the Miami-based firm.
In Friedkin, it looks as though Everton have a much more stable and cannier operator, someone who can get the Toffees moving in an upward trajectory and, most importantly, provide some much-needed stability off the pitch.

If he can achieve that, there is no reason to not of dream of a much brighter future on it – especially given the commercial opportunities that will arrive from the new Bramley Moore-Dock stadium [Liverpool ECHO, 15 June].
There will be an element of understandable trepidation still given the turmoil the club has been through, but by and large it feels like good things are happening on the blue half of Merseyside.
In other Everton news, Lewis Dobbin is in advanced talks for a move away from the Toffees this summer.
